Sales Classes Online

Since the beginning

From the advent of the wheel, be it with a shell, a piece of metal or whatever you had that the next homo sapien didn’t - we have been doing ‘sales’ basically since the beginning of time. And since that first barter trade occurred those oh so many years ago, sales have evolved to become the heartbeat of society. So many aspects of our existence can now be attached to commerce in some shape or form; food, clothes, television platforms, heck, even followers can be bought and sold. With us living in an increasingly commodified world, the value of having the skills and talent to be a top notch sales person is higher than it’s ever been before.

The selling point

Supply and demand is no child’s play. To meet the needs of a customer by providing them with a solution to their need may sound quite simple, but that is far from the case. Now that so much of what it takes to survive (read enjoy) day to day living has been commodified, people are spoilt for choice when it comes to deciding which product to go with. This is where you come in, you silver-tongued, smooth talker you. A great salesperson can be the difference between you coming out of the store with just the things on your shopping list, and you justifying why you spent that extra bit on something you know you don’t need.

The Art of Delivering the Goods

You may be wondering then, how does one go from being classified as a sleazy salesperson to becoming more like a Jordan Belfort - without the criminal record of course. The answer is as simple as your approach to any talent you want to hone your skills in, study, study, study. All the greats began by studying, developing and then perfecting their craft, and the world of sales is no different. Because sales have so much to do with people, developing your communication skills and perfecting the art of negotiation can go a long way in getting that sale. Selling is an art, so look beyond the simple supply and demand equation and get curious about what really makes people tick when it comes to making a purchase.

Research is the ace up your sleeve

Put yourself in your potential customer’s shoes and think about what would inspire you to get that product you didn’t really need or to pick one brand over another. When you think like the customer, you can make sure you tailor what you’re selling and how you are selling it to actually speak to the consumer’s needs. And this is nothing that a little bit of market research can’t help you with. Just remember that because selling is an art, it takes time to learn and develop the skills to be brilliant.
